A 32-year-old Searcy man has been charged with rape and five counts of sexual assault involving a pre-teen and a teenager.

A warrant was issued for James Earl Harris earlier this month at the request of the 17th Judicial District Prosecuting Attorney’s Office on the class Y felony, four class A felonies and a class B felony. He is set to appear in White County Circuit Court today at 9 a.m. for plea and arraignment, but was not in custody Monday afternoon.

According to the affidavit written by Sgt. Todd DeWitt of the Searcy Police Department, the pre-teen told a family member June 15 that Harris had rubbed her private parts with his hand and inserted his private part into her butt “slightly” on “several occasions.” She also reportedly said that several times Harris put his private part in her mouth and told her to “suck it.”

In an interview at the Child Safety Center of White County, the juvenile reportedly said that the first time she could remember Harris putting his private part in her butt was when she was 4 years old.

A week later, an adult female came to the police and reported that Harris also raped her when she was between the ages of 13 and 14, DeWitt wrote. She reportedly told police that when Harris was around the age of 22, he would often compliment her appearance and tell her that she had a “beautiful body.” She also said that Harris would talk her into sending nude photographs of herself over text message during this time, according to the affidavit.

During the nights she was at Harris’ house, she reportedly said Harris would do similar things to what he allegedly did to pre-teen. She said that one night she begged him to stop but that he wouldn’t. She also said that Harris forced her not to tell anyone because no one would believe her because he had the nude photos she texted to him.

The sexual assaults reportedly occurred “on or about” Sept. 30, 2013, through Sept. 30, 2019.
