Cody Allgood would like to be “a new voice for the people” in Bald Knob, which is why he said he is running for a position on the City Council.
Allgood, 38, is trying to claim the Ward 2, Position 2 seat being vacated by Vince Vire, who chose not to run for re-election. David Lowrey, Tammy Pitcher McConnell and Ella White also are running for the position.
Early voting for the Nov. 3 general election started Monday and will run through Nov. 2. It is being held from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. all weekdays except Nov. 2, when it ends an hour earlier, and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturdays at the Carmichael Community Center, 801 S. Elm St. in Searcy, and White County Cooperative Extension Service Office, 2400 Old Landing Road.
“The current council members just don’t want to listen to the people,” said Allgood, who went to Bald Knob schools through ninth grade and graduated from Bradford High School in 2001. “I’d like to build some better parks with a pavilion. I’m still learning. I would like to make it easier for new stores to come to town, make it easier for them by offering them some tax breaks or do something to make it easier on them.”
He said he likes talking to people and would like to bring more festivals and entertainment to Bald Knob.
Allgood, 38, said he works on the shipping dock at the Walmart Distribution Center in Searcy and has been there for two years. He has four children and said two of them are still at home with him. Algood’s uncle, Roger Pearrow, is also running for a seat on the council in Bald Knob.
In his spare time, Allgood said he plays guitar, builds lamps out of bottles, builds and paints other things and likes to go fishing and kayaking.
