Hi my name is Alex Forcier. I am just trying to find out about putting an ad in the newspaper about Searcy High School. I have been going round and round with the school officials about my credits and they are stopping me from receiving my diploma because of a mistake that they made and they wont take the blame for it. If you would please just email me at aforcier89@yahoo.com or give me a call at 501-281-5020 and let me know if this is at all possible. I am not the only kid that they have done this to, i feel that the public needs to know that they are doing kids wrong and messing with their futures! Please respond to this and have one of the publishers let me know if i can place an article in the paper! If you call my cell phone please leave a message and a number that i can call if i dont answer. Thank you for your time! -Alex Forcier

This is one of the John Hite's that Roger was referring to. My father and I have heard of the John Hite you are looking for, if my memory serves me correctly he may have been a school Principle in the area, but we are not directly related and have never personally met. Sorry we could not be of more help.

Keith Lunsford's article was especially thought provoking concerning Searcy's citizen leadership through the years as well as national leaders at especially critical times for our country. Looking back across time, the right person at the right time has surfaced throughout our great history from Washington who led the fight for our country’s independence as a general then as a political leader as President, Thomas Jefferson led in the writing and adoption of the Declaration of Independence and as a great President, Thomas Paine whose pamphlets impelled the people to fight for separation from English rule, and as Rev. Lunsford pointed out, so many more. My personal American hero was Teddy Roosevelt who, though from a wealthy elite family, led the fight for the American worker against the giant business trusts, run by people he knew and with whom he associated, but Roosevelt fought against them for social justice for the American worker and he won. I often wonder if we acknowledge local leadership as being equally as important as national leadership if our area is to grow and prosper. Many years ago and at a young age, E. D. Yancey seemed to have a vision for Searcy and through the years he used his energy, influence, and the resources of a bank he controlled to prosper this city. He motivated others to participate and a force of leadership formed to grow and prosper this town, remindful of Tom Brokaw’s book “The Greatest Generation”. E.D. Yancey has been met with the words we all want to hear, “Well done, My Son, Well done”. I hope another generation is emerging to take over this leadership, these are big shoes to fill.

I found a 1992 Perrin Jones commentary about "Bob" Folsom's death. He lived in Russell,AR in 1925-26 with his parents. To all at school Bob was just another student. My brothers, mother, and I welcomed him to our home afternoons to play. He was always well behaved. He had his watch then @ kept track of the time as his mother told him what time to come home. They had a nice home in Russell and he was always clean @ well fed. Dad's job moved us to Higginson @ we lost track. I have no idea when, why, or how his parents died.....I wished to tell Barbara Luningham that Marguatite and Z.L. Fraser are both dead. However, Z.L.'s older sister, Faotta Fraser Collins, lives in Searcy. If Barbara wishes anymore infm. from me, she is welcome to use CE1014@netzero.net....P.S. I'm glad Perrin Jones is still writing. It was sad to know someone from childhood had known such a life, but that Bob's friends cared for him.

Was Born and raised in Bradford where I Graduated from High School in 1948. Have fond memories playing Basketball and softball against all the other schools in White County. Always try and get back to Bradford in early October where up until this year they had what they called Bradford Fun Fest, its my understanding they have changed the name to the Pecan Festival. Will be flying in to Memphis Airport and renting an auto to drive on to Bradford. Most of you around Searcy will know Doctor Jimmy Allen who is the Bible Professor at Harding University. Jimmy and I have been good friends for many years. We will be staying at the Hampton Inn on Race Street from 3-8 October in the event anyone might see this and want to call me. I currently reside in Richmond, VA and spend the winters in Lakeland Fla. Still consider Bradford as my home. Good morning everyone. I was just reading some of your comments and on the tax thing...I moved here from Texas a few months ago and I am shocked by Arkasas's taxes. I've never seen so many. Anyways...I just wanted to ask everyone a couple of questions. My vehicle is trying to break down on me. My husband makes very good money but we are young and don't have good credit. If anyone has a vehicle for sale and would possibly do payments please let me know? Another thing I was wondering....what are some things to do in this town? I'd like to meet people. I moved here and don't know a soul except for my landlord and a couple of neighbors now. I appreciate any input. Thank you! :)

I am looking for the descendants of Joshua and Birdie Hill known to have lived in Beebe and Searcy. He was the founder of The Morning Call, a paper absorbed by The Daily Citizen. The only child I know about was a son named Buster but they likely had more. I have much to offer on Joshua's ancestry.

What the hell? I was reading the story: Beebe: Grassroots movement likely needed to raise natural gas tax By ANDREW DeMILLO Wednesday, July 4, 2007 12:53 AM CDT [.........] And saw that there are factions interested in raising our costs for Natural Gas, ......on top of what we are already paying???!!!??? If the industry gets saddled with any extra expense, they just pass it along to us! If we have not learned anything from pain at the pump, it is because stupid idiots claim we should "tax" the industry, when we will have to shoulder the cost passed onto each and every one of us. Say HELL NO to any Tax increases. My electric bill has a cost adjustment that I have to pay extra for already! A cost passed onto me because of the CURRENT rate of the cost of fuel to Natural Gas fired electricity generators. Any INCREASE will be passed right along to me! {and each and every one of you, dear readers} For you idiots, don't try to B/S me with your lousy idea of "Getting back at the man" or "Just think of the benefits" crap, because the cost of living is pretty damned high enough right now. And I am thankful that food taxes are down to 3 cents on the dollar. I bought groceries yesterday and was pleased to come back with a couple of dollars for small treats me and kids get to enjoy today. The taxes should be REDUCED on everything fuel related, because we gotta have it for everything we do! If the state really wants to help out Arkansans, they could reduce the amount of tax the state charges industry, so we could afford more products and other consumables.
